Programs Overview

  • It is a Korean Language course for overseas Koreans and foreigners who desire to learn Korean. It is a annual standing program, which total 4 sessions (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) are operated in a year. Classes are divided into level 1 to 6 according to Korean proficiency, educational background, etc. and it is possible to apply various additional programs such as a preparation class of TOPIK, etc.

Academic Goal for Each Level :

Level Academic Goal
Level 1 He/she is able to participate in short conversation of daily life and to read or write a short passage with writing materials that he/she has frequently encountered in life. He/she is able to perform basic communication skills such as greeting, introduction, a short message, understanding or exchanging information, and so on.
Level 2 He/she is able to participate in simple conversation under official or public situation that he/she has ordinarily encountered and read or write a writing or article required in such situation. He/she is able to perform communication skills such as asking or answering information or data, allowing and requesting, understanding or exchanging a message, and so on.
Level 3 He/she is able to participate in conversation in social circumstances that he/she has frequently encountered and read or write writings of social materials related to him/herself. He/she is able to perform communication skills such as recommendation or advice, understanding or expressing a simple explanation, exchanging information, and so on.
Level 4 He/she is able to participate in talks and conversations related to social or abstract materials with which he/she is familiar or occupational tasks or duties and read or write a writing of social or abstract issues that he/she has usually been interested in. He/she is able to perform communication skills such as agreement and disagreement, directions and reporting, understanding or expressing thought or intention, and so on.
Level 5 He/she is able to participate in talks and conversations related to social issues at large or his/her tasks or studies and read or write a writing of social or a part of socialized issues. He/she is able to perform communication skills such as reporting jobs and tasks, discussion or negotiation, delivering systematic information, understanding and expressing opinion or assertion, and so on.
Level 6 He/she is able to participate in talks and conversations which are opened in specialized or scientific areas and read or write a writing of materials revealing the distinct characteristics of society or culture or scientific materials. He/she is able to perform communication skills such as persuasion or recommendation, logical and effective understanding and expression of opinion or assertion, and so on.
  • All student shall be assigned to the class that it is suitable for his/her Korean proficiency through an assignment test (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) on the day of opening the school. One(1) class consists of about 12 students and is organized by the test result, nationality, gender, etc.

Criteria for Attendance and Completion of the Course :

  • Attendance : It is possible to complete the course when an attendance rate is 80% or more, and it is possible to extend/renew a visa when an attendance rate is 70% or more. - 2 times or more of Consecutive absence : 1st warning - 4 times or more of Consecutive absence : announcement in the school’s bulletin board (2nd warning) - 5 times or more of Consecutive absence : The student will be expelled and it will be notified to the Korean Immigration Service.
  • Criteria of Completion : Any student shall attend the class at 80% or more and get the standard grades or higher in order to complete the course according to the school’s operating procedure. The areas and scores with reference to academic achievement are as below :

    - 60 or higher in each area, and 70 or higher in total average - It is impossible to complete a course if an average score is 70 or higher but a score in any area fails (60 or less).
